The experiment failed.

3 caramel thingies did not calm my nerves so I had to bake chocolate chip cookies and ate a bunch of them - that helped a lot!!!!  hahahaha  Will probably continue the cookie experiment until the plane departs on Tuesday. 

Getting ready

Getting things prepared for our trip.  Talked to the housing supervisor - he says he didn't see we had a reservation, but I'm hoping he'll find it by tomorrow.  Made the airline reservations, got all of Vanessa's medical tests and records up there.  Got my flu shot today - I bled a little and asked for a band-aid. . . the nurse gave me a little bitty dot bandaid.  I told her a girl couldn't get proper sympathy with that measly thing, but she refused to give me a bigger one.  I should have gone by Walgreens and got myself a MONDO bandage and applied it. . . instead I went to Walgreens and got a new tube of mascara and 2 boxes of 'Nips' - awesome little caramel thingies. 

I'm scared.  I'm trying very hard not to be, but it's impossible not to have some apprehension.  Vanessa and I talked this afternoon for awhile and she assured me it was much easier seeing things from my side than it is from hers.  I gotta agree with her on that one.  I have such hope for this procedure, but all previous procedures have been more than a little disappointing - well except for the original brain surgery, which saved her life - that it's very hard to sustain hope.  Wonder if eating 3 little caramels per hour will help sustain my hope?  Off to do an experiment!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Update to follow. .  . .

The pressure of posting

Must post something today so my followers will not drift away.  Oh dear the pressure.  OH, got emergency supplies for the big trip to NY.  Candy cigarettes!  A whole bag of them - thanks Ron. 

Tried to get the results of Vanessa's tests from White Wilson today - it's like pulling teeth.  Was not successful.

Had banana pudding for supper - hmmm is that a balanced diet?  There's dairy, fruit, more dairy for the whipped cream, wheat from the cookies and some sort of metal from licking the spoon so much and scraping every last drop from the metal surface.  Yup, sounds like a balanced diet to me. 

Must remember to look for real shoes and socks for 2 reasons:  1. The day before we get to NY the HIGH temp is supposed to be 64!!!!!  So excited.  2.  Don't want those that be in NY to take one look at me and think 'hillbilly'.  I want to reserve that treat for when I open my mouth!

Let's see if I've figured this out.

Just created this blog to update everyone on Vanessa's progress during her upcoming surgery.  Made flight reservations tonight and have the surgery scheduled.  Flight is Oct 5th - prayers are appreciated and begged for.  First surgery is Oct 7th - don't know the time yet.  If all goes well, second surgery is Oct 12th. 

Guess that will do for a first post.
